Miley Cyrus Biography Destiny Hope Cyrus (better known as Miley - short Smiley), was an optimistic name because her parents (country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Tish) expected great things for the child. He first became interested in acting while hanging off the set of his father's now-defunct TV Doc. A little help from dad, Miley was soon to develop their skills as an actor playing the character Kylie on the show.
